Started my 200km journey

26.2km Down, 173.8km to Go! 🏃♀️✈️
Well… my 200km challenge for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) is officially underway!
On Saturday, I kicked things off with the Ipswich parkrun, followed by a walk with my sister, Heidi. It was a beautiful way to start my journey — getting out, moving my body and, most importantly, raising money for an organisation that does so much for Australians living in remote and rural communities.
Then today, I took on a 13km trail run with my trusty running companion, Q. 🐕🏃♀️
There’s something pretty special about running through the trails with a good companion beside you. Although I have a feeling Q may be taking the easy way out of this challenge! 😂
And the kilometres are adding up…
I've now completed 26.2km of my 200km goal!
That's 13.1% of the challenge already done — and only 173.8km to go! 🎉
I'm sure there will be plenty of sore legs, tired days and moments when I question why I decided 200km was a good idea! 😂 But every kilometre is for a reason.
❤️ Why the RFDS?
The RFDS provides vital medical care to people living across some of Australia's most remote and isolated areas.
Imagine needing urgent medical attention but being hundreds of kilometres from the nearest hospital. For many Australians, the RFDS is there to provide emergency care, transport and essential healthcare when they need it most.
It's an incredible Australian service — and one that I think deserves all the support we can give it.
✈️ Did you know?
Here are a few cool RFDS facts:
The RFDS has been providing care to Australians for more than 95 years.
It was founded by Reverend John Flynn, whose vision was to bring a "mantle of safety" to people living in Australia's remote areas.
The RFDS doesn't only respond to emergencies. Its teams also provide primary healthcare, mental health services, dental care and other essential medical services.
RFDS crews can travel enormous distances to reach patients in remote parts of Australia.
The RFDS has become an iconic part of Australian life — combining aviation and medicine to bring healthcare to people who may otherwise struggle to access it. 🇦🇺
So, what's next?
I've got 173.8km still to go, and I'm excited (and maybe slightly nervous! 😅) to see where this journey takes me.
If you'd like to support me, please consider making a donation to my RFDS fundraiser. Every dollar helps this amazing organisation continue saving lives and supporting Australians who don't have easy access to hospitals and healthcare.
And if donating isn't possible, that's absolutely okay — sharing my fundraiser with your friends, family or anyone who might like to support the cause would mean the world to me. ❤️
Thank you for coming along for the journey.
26.2km down. 173.8km to go. Let's do this! 💪🏃♀️✈️
