I'm fundraising for the Royal Flying Doctor Service
💖 For Orlagh: Our Flying Start with the RFDS
On April 6, 2025, we welcomed our beautiful daughter Orlagh Freya I’Anson into the world — a healthy 8.1lbs bundle of love, arriving at 3:07am. Her birth went just as planned, and we were soaking in the magic of our first morning together at Busselton Hospital, feeling incredibly lucky and full of joy.
But that peaceful beginning quickly turned into something unexpected.
Doctors noticed Orlagh was struggling to breathe — she had fluid lingering in her lungs and needed urgent specialist care. Within hours, we were on board a Royal Flying Doctor Service aircraft, being flown to Perth Children’s Hospital, where Orlagh was admitted to the NICU.
The days that followed were filled with uncertainty, monitors, IVs, and moments of quiet hope. Thanks to the incredible care from the teams at Busselton Hospital, NETS WA, Perth Children’s Hospital, and the RFDS, Orlagh recovered beautifully. After five days in the NICU, we were finally able to bring our baby home and begin life as a new family.
We will never forget the speed, skill, and compassion of the people who helped our daughter when she needed it most. This fundraiser is our small way of giving back — so that families like ours continue to receive urgent care, no matter where they are in WA.
Please consider supporting the Royal Flying Doctor Service, who truly gave our daughter a flying start in life. ✈️❤️
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,
Bec, Joe & Baby Orlagh
Australia is a big country, and for those living in remote, rural and regional areas, access to immediate care isn’t a guarantee. For some communities, the nearest hospital is eight hours drive away.
This October, I’m taking on a month-long fitness challenge to help more people access the care they need. By going further, I hope to raise as much as possible for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).
Every year, the RFDS reach more than 330,000 Australians with 24-hour emergency retrieval and primary healthcare services. That’s one person every two minutes!
Together, we can keep the Flying Doctor flying and continue their life-saving work. Please donate to my challenge today!
