Why I'm riding

Working as a paramedic on a remote minesite has given me a whole new appreciation for how important the RFDS is.

Being hours away from the nearest hospital means that when someone becomes seriously unwell or injured, I can assess, treat and stabilise them, but sometimes they need more than I can provide in a remote clinic. That's when I rely on the RFDS.
I've had patients who have required further treatment and care, and it is extremely reassuring knowing that even in the middle of nowhere, I have the RFDS there to provide support, management and transport to help me get my patient to the care they need.

That is why this October I'm taking part in Oceans to Outback to give something back to a service that I have seen firsthand how important the service they provide is.

Every 2 minutes someone needs the RFDS and every donation helps keep the service flying, airstrips maintained, equipment stocked and serviced and ensures that people living and working remotely can still access lifesaving healthcare, no matter how far away they are.
