I'm fundraising for the Royal Flying Doctor Service

Please donate to the RFDS if you can…

🌟 This is a great and deserving cause that is close to my heart.

My biggest WHY… just over 8.5 years ago our oldest son needed the essential services of the Royal Flying Doctor Service when he was born and 400km away from NICU, we are beyond grateful ✈️ 🫶  Since then multiple other family members have also required crucial support from the RFDS.

It is the first time I have participated in the October ‘challenge’ 💪 to raise funds for the RFDS. I usually just donate but a big thanks to Jess for encouraging and giving me the push I needed to commit and thanks to all of the ladies that are joining us to make ‘Team Wellstead’ as well as all of our supporters who encourage, donate and share 💙

Australia is a big country, and for those living in remote, rural and regional areas, access to immediate care isn’t a guarantee. For some communities, the nearest hospital is eight hours drive away.

This October, I’m taking on a month-long fitness challenge to help more people access the care they need. By going further, I hope to raise as much as possible for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).

Every year, the RFDS reach more than 330,000 Australians with 24-hour emergency retrieval and primary healthcare services. That’s one person every two minutes!

Together, we can keep the Flying Doctor flying and continue their life-saving work. Please donate to my challenge today!

So far this year
I’ve helped provide...

My Updates

Day 31 (yesterday) & that’s a wrap, 174km 💃

Saturday 1st Nov
Snuck in an early 4km walk to make 174km total for the month which is double the default when you sign up… I had hoped to do another 6km to go out with a bang and get to 180km but after getting the kids off to school it was all hands on deck to move machinery, run some samples and make some meals for the first day of harvest! I’m proud I managed to walk everyday during the October challenge and have gained some fitness. I’m grateful to have had family join in on some of the walks -Spencer was a regular, well done buddy 🥰 🚴 ⚽️ Thank you to all family and friends that supported this challenge to help keep the RFDS flying 💙 Team Wellstead covered over 750km and received some incredibly generous donations raising over 4500.00!!! 💥 - there is still time to make a donation during November, every dollar counts 🫶

Day 29 & 30 - 15km covered!

Friday 31st Oct
Morning and afternoon walks with one featuring a soccer ball again (ohh yay 😁), 7km & 8km days to try and get to 174km total for the month… leaving just 4km for the final day 👏 It’s been a great challenge and I’m thankful for all the support and help to raise money for the RFDS this October 💙 it’s not too late if you would still like to donate 🫶

Day 26, 27 & 28 - 155km reached so far!!

Tuesday 28th Oct
Farm walks: 9km Sunday, 8km Monday & 10km today… The default setting when signing up was 87km, I hoped to get to 100 but was very unfit, now I’m wondering if I can get to 174 total (which is double the default but there are only 3 days left) 🤞 I’m so thankful to everyone that has supported, encouraged and donated to this worthy cause to help keep the Flying Doctor flying, we never know when we will need the incredible & vital service they provide ✈️ 💙

Day 22 - 25, less than 1 week left to go, with over 125km walked so far!

Saturday 25th Oct
Walks on farm over the last 4 days with Spencer by my side for a couple of them. Thank you so much to everyone supporting this deserving cause, there is less than a week to go for this October challenge, I’m excited to see how many more kilometres I can cover and how much we can raise - every dollar makes a difference 💙

Day 19, 20 & 21 (OVER 100km done)

Tuesday 21st Oct
6km today joined by a SPECIAL FRIEND and the 3 kids (it wasn’t peaceful, there was whinging, a lot of encouragement, constant challenges to get everyone a little further, bribery and piggyback’s) we braved the damp morning! 😁🥰 Thank you for all the support, I’ve managed to walk daily during the last 3 weeks and have reached my 100km goal for the month 👏🫶 There is still time to donate to this important cause if you’re able, every dollar helps make a difference 💙

Day 17 & 18

Sunday 19th Oct
More morning farm walks, Spencer joined with a soccer ball on Friday! Yesterday the kids joined me on bikes for a couple of km in the afternoon and then I completed 5km solo in the evening.

Day 15 & 16

Thursday 16th Oct
I’ve clocked up 80km 🥳 I’m feeling it! 5km and 9km over the last two days, a solo 5km each day, early morning walks for the win without the flys!! Today also featured walks to and from the bus stop with kids on bikes and some fly nets on our heads, they may look funny but it makes for a more relaxing walk 🫶

Day 13 & 14 school is back!

Tuesday 14th Oct
Walks back and forth to the bus stop, with some company one way and an after meeting walk with a special team member A. Cindy, featuring our littlest loves (Alira required bribes and some carrying)… clocking up some extra kilometres! Thank you so much to supporters and everyone that has donated so far, let’s see how much we can raise for this amazing cause, donate if you can 💙 https://www.oceanstooutback.org.au/s/67774/75809

Day 12 with some different scenery

Sunday 12th Oct
8km completed, 5km solo and 3km with Spencer (Alira made it less than 1km) beautiful explore, some whales, a splash in the icy waves and an ice cream on the last day of school holidays 🥰

Day 11 - meet Team Wellstead

Sunday 12th Oct
✈️ We were able to get together at a local community Sundowner, so took the photo opportunity to spread awareness that we have taken the October challenge to raise funds for the RFDS! It is so important to us, living rurally you never know when you might need to rely on the vital help they provide. So if you can afford to donate, please do, every dollar helps, even a little donation is very much appreciated. Thanks again from Team Wellstead, Cindy, Rachel, Jess, Danika & Mel 💙 https://www.oceanstooutback.org.au/s/67774/75809

Day 10, 5km today after a shorter recovery walk yesterday.

Saturday 11th Oct
47km covered over the last 10 days, I’ve felt it but feel stronger… Thank you to our supporters and those that have already donated to this important cause, please join us if you can 🫶

Day 8 was my longest walk yet - 9km!

Wednesday 8th Oct
Spencer was with me for most of the 30km I completed during week 1 of this challenge and today we walked 9km of the Luke Penn trail in Kalgan, early this morning with a few spots of rain.

My biggest WHY…

Sunday 5th Oct
our oldest son needed the essential services of the Royal Flying Doctor Service when he was born and 400km away from NICU, we are beyond grateful ✈️ 🫶

5km with some company on day 3
