My reason - my family

Tuesday 30th Sep October - Oceans To Outback This October, I’m walking to raise funds for the Royal Flying Doctor Service! I am in a team with my two beautiful girls, daughter Stephanie and Daughter in Law Rhianne. Those of you who know our family, know that Rhi and Ben live on a remote station, with our 4 gorgeous grandsons, where they rely on the services of the Royal Flying Doctor Service. The RFDS provide primary healthcare, Telehealth and medical support and of course life-saving flights when needed.Ben and Rhianne had experience with RFDS prior to moving to station life. In 2019 our beautiful 3rd grandson Flynn was born at the Atherton Hospital. Unfortunately Flynn had breathing issues. The staff at the Atherton Hospital were amazing but our Country Hospital did not have the equipment required to stabilise Flynn. That is when the RFDS were called to transfer Flynn and Rhianne safely and quickly to the Townsville Nicu unit. Moving forward the kids moved to station life, and what an amazing life they are living. Remote living comes with challenges especially when there is health issues. Thankfully they have the RFDS at the end of the phone to reassure them with 4 children there is often something. They were there again when Ben was thrown from a horse in May last year with suspected spinal injuries and concussion the RFDS were onsite in very quick time and had him transferred to the Cairns Base Hospital for treatment thankfully he walked out of the hospital. This is a cause very close to my family’s heart and every donation you make will not only help the RFDS, but also mean so much to us personally our kids and their country community.
