I'm fundraising for the Royal Flying Doctor Service

Australia is a big country, and for those living in remote, rural and regional areas, access to immediate care isn’t a guarantee. For some communities, the nearest hospital is eight hours drive away.

This October, I’m taking on a month-long fitness challenge to help more people access the care they need. By going further, I hope to raise as much as possible for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).

Every year, the RFDS reach more than 330,000 Australians with 24-hour emergency retrieval and primary healthcare services. That’s one person every two minutes!

Together, we can keep the Flying Doctor flying and continue their life-saving work. Please donate to my challenge today!

So far this year

My Updates

It’s been seven years since I got that phone call…

Wednesday 8th Oct
It’s been seven years since I got that phone call…

The one that told me Tanisha had been in a horrific motor vehicle accident on a remote road in Kununurra.

Her injuries were so severe that they weren’t sure she’d even survive the flight with the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

The next few hours were a blur—packing suitcases, driving through the night, waiting by the phone for updates. I’ll never forget the call at 2am from the surgeon in Darwin, shocked that Tanisha was still alive despite the extent of her injuries.

Seven years on, it’s still hard to reflect on how close we came to losing her. But thanks to the RFDS, Kununurra St Johns Ambulance, Kununurra Hospital, and a series of fortunate circumstances in a horrific situation—Tanisha is not only alive today, she’s absolutely kicking arse at life.

I’ll never be able to repay the RFDS for the role they played that day - but every year I will spread the word and raise awareness and funds for this incredible service through the Oceans to Outback challenge.
