Why am I fundraising? Well, here is my why… ❤️
In 2020, our third beautiful girl was born in Longreach, QLD — our hometown. Unfortunately, by day three of being earthside, some ongoing complications, along with a new concern, arose and required us to seek urgent specialist care more than 1,200km away in Brisbane.
Before I knew it, I was leaving our two older girls in Longreach with family, while my husband waited to catch the next Qantas flight to meet us in Brisbane. I was boarding an RFDS plane with my three-day-old baby girl.
She had two wonderful specialist nurses with her the entire journey, carefully monitoring her and making sure she remained stable along the way.
After three days in NICU, 24 hours of monitoring, specialist consultations and some wonderful improvements, we received the all-clear to bring our little girl home. We were told that the issues were expected to resolve themselves over time — and thankfully, they did. ❤️
Fast forward six years, and our little sassy redhead is a happy, healthy girl living her best life. 🥰
Unfortunately, our family has had to utilise the RFDS many times since, and we know firsthand just how incredibly important this service is to rural and remote families. Without the RFDS, our family’s outcomes could have been very different.
We will be forever grateful for the incredible people who make this service possible.
The RFDS is an essential and critical service for rural and remote communities, ensuring that no matter how far away you are, urgent medical care can be accessed when it is needed most.
This October, I’m fundraising for the RFDS to help ensure that this incredible service continues to be there for families like ours when they need it most.
If you’re able to donate, no matter how big or small, I would be incredibly grateful. Every donation helps support this amazing service. ❤️✈️
Thank you for supporting my fundraiser and helping keep the RFDS flying. 💙
