Why I'm walking
In 2019, our son, Andrew, suddenly fell very ill overnight. We rushed him to hospital where he received emergency treatment. He was then transferred from Gnowangerup Hospital via Ambulance to Albany Hospital.
We almost lost our son during that trip to Albany and it was the scariest thing I've ever witnessed.
RFDS was diverted to Albany for the life saving transport of our 8 month old son to PCH. The support, care and expertise provided to our son and myself during this time was second to none.
I will always be so grateful to the RFDS and we hold this fundraiser near and dear to our hearts.
Andrew is alive today because of them!
I'm fundraising for the Royal Flying Doctor Service
Australia is a big country, and for those living in remote, rural and regional areas, access to immediate care isn’t a guarantee. For some communities, the nearest hospital is eight hours drive away.
In 2019, this was a very real reality for our family when our son suddenly fell very ill. We were transferred from Gnowangerup Hospital via Ambulance to Albany and we almost lost our son during that trip. RFDS was diverted to Albany for the life saving transport of our 8 month old son to PCH. The support, care and expertise provided to my son and I during this time was second to none.
This October, I’m taking on a month-long fitness challenge to help more people access the care they need. By going further, I hope to raise as much as possible for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).
Every year, the RFDS reach more than 330,000 Australians with 24-hour emergency retrieval and primary healthcare services. That’s one person every two minutes!
Together, we can keep the Flying Doctor flying and continue their life-saving work. Please donate to my challenge today!
So far this year
I’ve helped provide...
4
Laryngoscopes – used to assist in intubating and ventilating a patient.
2
Life-saving medical chests for a remote, rural or regional community.
2
Defibrillator Pads – used with a machine to monitor a patient’s cardiac health.

Awesome work Gabby- such a worthy cause!
