Deano’s Last Flight Fundraiser - I'm fundraising for the Royal Flying Doctor Service

Hello family and friends,

Starting today, Mum, Marley, Ruby, and I - along with my Nanma, and Aunty Ali, are participating in the fundraiser Oceans to Outback for the month of October. We are raising money for the Royal Flying Doctors Service (RFDS) in memory of my much loved and missed Dad.

You may or may not be aware - in 2024, my Dad was working FIFO in the most remote mine site in Australia in the Tanami Desert. It was here he required critical medical attention. The RFDS were the crew who picked Dad up from his mine site and flew him to Alice Springs hospital. I know they did everything they could do for him and I am forever grateful to the RFDS, the pilot and the crew on board that night, who cared for and looked after my Dad when he needed them and I wasn’t able to be there with him.

As a team, we are challenging ourselves to walk and cycle at least 562kms during the whole month of October and hope to raise a minimum of $1250 between us (possibly more if we can). The reason for 562kms is because it is the distance the RFDS flew Dad from the mine site to Alice Springs airport.

If you could spare any amount, it would be much appreciated and if you are unable to donate, please share this as someone you know may be able to. Donations can be made until the 31st of October, when the challenge finishes.

Thank you so much, Flynn.

Australia is a big country, and for those living in remote, rural and regional areas, access to immediate care isn’t a guarantee. For some communities, the nearest hospital is eight hours drive away.

This October, I’m taking on a month-long fitness challenge to help more people access the care they need. By going further, I hope to raise as much as possible for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).

Every year, the RFDS reach more than 330,000 Australians with 24-hour emergency retrieval and primary healthcare services. That’s one person every two minutes!

Together, we can keep the Flying Doctor flying and continue their life-saving work. Please donate to my challenge today!
