Why I'm walking
I'm walking this October to save lives and help more Australians access essential healthcare.
Donate now >>I'm fundraising for the Royal Flying Doctor Service
My family and I love driving trips across Australia. We have crossed Australia 6 or 7 times now - generally across the Nullarbor but have also been the great central road.
We have had a couple of encounters with the RFDS on our travels - from sick kids in Eulo, a snake bite (or was it a mozzie bite) at Innamincka, the the various landing strips on the highways in the outback.
I love the roots of the RFFDs - if you have never read their story - you should. It’s all about Faith, remote people in the outback and resourceful service to others.
John Flynn was a Presbyterian minister and rightly adorns our $20note
This October, I’m taking on a month-long fitness challenge to help more people access the care they need. By going further, I hope to raise as much as possible for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).
Every year, the RFDS reach more than 330,000 Australians with 24-hour emergency retrieval and primary healthcare services. That’s one person every two minutes!
Together, we can keep the Flying Doctor flying and continue their life-saving work. Please donate to my challenge today!
So far this year
I’ve helped provide...
7
Laryngoscopes – used to assist in intubating and ventilating a patient.
4
Life-saving medical chests for a remote, rural or regional community.
4
Defibrillator Pads – used with a machine to monitor a patient’s cardiac health.
