Why I'm riding
I’m taking on the RFDS 247km Cycling Challenge to raise funds for a service that I know firsthand is an important part of life in remote Australia.
I grew up in a remote area where the Royal Flying Doctor Service was a vital part of emergency healthcare. When you live a long way from major medical facilities, having access to the RFDS can make a significant difference.
I have a lot of respect for the people who work with the RFDS. It takes commitment and courage to provide medical services across some of the most remote parts of Australia, often in difficult circumstances.
I’m taking on the 247km challenge because I think supporting the RFDS is a worthwhile cause. Life in remote Australia can be easy to overlook when most of the population lives in our cities and larger regional centres, but the need for reliable emergency healthcare doesn’t disappear with distance.
I’d appreciate any support you’re able to give. Every donation helps the RFDS continue providing an essential service to people across remote Australia.
247km on a bike is a decent challenge, but it’s a small effort compared with the distances the RFDS covers to get people the care they need.
Thanks for your support.
I'm fundraising for the Royal Flying Doctor Service
Australia is a big country, and for those living in remote, rural and regional areas, access to immediate care isn’t a guarantee. For some communities, the nearest hospital is eight hours drive away.
This October, I’m taking on a month-long fitness challenge to help more people access the care they need. By going further, I hope to raise as much as possible for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).
Every year, the RFDS reach more than 330,000 Australians with 24-hour emergency retrieval and primary healthcare services. That’s one person every two minutes!
Together, we can keep the Flying Doctor flying and continue their life-saving work. Please donate to my challenge today!
So far this year
I’ve helped provide...
6
Laryngoscopes – used to assist in intubating and ventilating a patient.
4
Life-saving medical chests for a remote, rural or regional community.
3
Defibrillator Pads – used with a machine to monitor a patient’s cardiac health.

Good on ya Lachlan! Keep peddling, you never know you may get hooked ;)
