Why I’m Doing This
I grew up in country Victoria, and while we did have access to medical services, there were times when we had to wait for help to reach us.
That experience has always given me a huge amount of respect for the paramedics and other emergency responders who are out there providing that first response and doing everything they can to save people’s lives.
I often think about what it would be like living somewhere even more remote, where medical help could be many hours away. The thought of needing urgent medical attention and having no one coming is something I’d hate to imagine.
That’s why I have such a huge amount of respect for the Royal Flying Doctor Service. The fact that there is a service capable of reaching people in some of the most remote parts of this country and bringing them the medical care they desperately need is incredible.
Australia is an enormous country, and we simply can’t afford to lose a service as important as the RFDS.
I know that what I’m doing is only a small contribution, but I want to do the smallest bit that I can to help keep them flying and make sure they can continue being there for the people who need them most.
If my 87km challenge can help raise even a little bit of money or awareness for the RFDS, then it will be more than worth every kilometre.
I'm fundraising for the Royal Flying Doctor Service
Australia is a big country, and for those living in remote, rural and regional areas, access to immediate care isn’t a guarantee. For some communities, the nearest hospital is eight hours drive away.
This October, I’m taking on a month-long fitness challenge to help more people access the care they need. By going further, I hope to raise as much as possible for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).
Every year, the RFDS reach more than 330,000 Australians with 24-hour emergency retrieval and primary healthcare services. That’s one person every two minutes!
Together, we can keep the Flying Doctor flying and continue their life-saving work. Please donate to my challenge today!
So far this year
I’ve helped provide...
3
Laryngoscopes – used to assist in intubating and ventilating a patient.
2
Life-saving medical chests for a remote, rural or regional community.
2
Defibrillator Pads – used with a machine to monitor a patient’s cardiac health.

Good on ya mate, but don’t take our territory! 😂
