I'm fundraising for the Royal Flying Doctor Service

This October, I’m taking on a month-long challenge to help more people to access the care they need.

This is the second time i participate in this fundraiser - last year i raised more than 1000 $ 🥳

Every year, the RFDS reach more than 330,000 Australians with 24-hour emergency retrieval and primary healthcare services. 

That’s one person every two minutes!

Together, we can keep the Flying Doctor flying and continue their life-saving work ✈️.

I am running or powerwalking at least 100km and have set my goal at 300$ - please 🙏🏻 keep donating 💳beyond the goal amount and also follow my Blog - there are videos 📽 and more information about the many (and awesome 🤩) services provided by the Flying Doctors.

Many moons ago I worked at the Berkley River Lodge (next stop Timor 🧭) and was introduced to a Medical Chest 🗄🩺 for the first time. 
It was reassuring to have access to this for staff, visitors & guests - given the remoteness of the property 🏞🌌.

Reached remote cattle 🐂 station in qld

Monday 13th Oct
Soooo from Rottnest i ran ☺️ straight across to Queensland and reached the Remote Cattle 🐮station where Luke swapped the corporate suit 👔 for a pair of Jeans 👖🥾 and helped mustering livestock 🚜🏍 🐎.
 That's where he also needed the RFDS and a ride to the nearest 🏥. Read about Luke's (mis)adventure 👇🏼

Detour to rottnest 🐀

If you have ever wondered how the Rottnest 🐀 Aerodrome Runway looks like - i checked it out, see pic. Clocked 3km only 🤪 - too busy, but hey a km is a km. THIS  is where the RFDS land & depart when retrieving patients 🚨✈️🚑.from Rotto. 
 Bike 🚴 accidents are very common here, about 7 per year resulting in serious injuries🩹🏨.

Arrived in NSW - to learn more about the amazing services provided by the Royal Flying Doctor Service ✈️. Apart from emergencies 🚨 the RFDS also provides vital services for families - or families 👩‍👩‍👧👨‍👩‍👦‍👦🫄👩🏿‍❤️‍👨🏾👩🏻‍❤️‍💋‍👨🏼 🫃to be - in remote 🏜 areas.

Need a few more km 🏃🏽to reach the next destination ( in NSW) - probably arriving there tomorrow 🏞. In the meantime a few stats to document progress 📊 and a glimpse of one of my routes around town 🏡. Very grateful for every Donation 🙏🏻.

Heathcote, here i am 🎉

Ran 🕺🏻 all the way back to Victoria.

Here in Heathcote lives Allan & his wife Lorraine 

To survive - after being diagnosed with a rare cancer - Allan needs live saving treatment 🏥 for 7 days each month.
The commute to the Chemo is supported by the RFDS 🚙.

Friday 3rd Oct
Sooo, i started my run in Narrogin

Frequently the RFDS helicopter is landing here - we have a awesome helipad right next to the hospital 🏨

We are very grateful for this service as it would take 2 hours by ambulance 🚑 to reach a specialized hospital in Perth - this could be life threatening for people like Helen who was kicked by a horse 🐎 at 32 weeks pregnant 🤰🏻:

On my activity day 2 I made it all the way to Tasmania (ran past Kalgoorlie yesterday it seems 🤪 AND Port Augusta). Currently I alternate Run/Walk (i am a slow runner )

WE already generated funds for:
Laryngoscopes, Medical chests 🧰 &  Defibrillator pads through fundraising 🎉.

In Tasmania the RFDS provides another awesome service 👏🏼
