Why I'm walking
I'm walking this October to save lives and help more Australians access essential healthcare.
Donate now >>I'm fundraising for the Royal Flying Doctor Service
Australia is a big country, and for those of us living in rural, regional and remote areas, access to immediate healthcare isn’t always guaranteed. The Royal Flying Doctor Service holds a very special place in my heart because my family and I have personally relied on them on a number of occasions — during my threatened preterm labours, when my son was born with a heart condition, and when I needed emergency surgery for a ruptured fallopian tube caused by an ectopic pregnancy.
These experiences have made me incredibly passionate about healthcare accessibility for rural families. This October, I’m taking on a month-long fitness challenge to raise money for the RFDS and help ensure that where someone lives doesn’t determine the care they can access when they need it most.
Every year, the RFDS reaches more than 330,000 Australians through emergency retrieval and primary healthcare services — around one person every two minutes. I know firsthand just how important it is to have the Flying Doctor there when you need them.
By going further this October, I hope to raise as much as I can to help keep the Flying Doctor flying. If you’re able to, please donate to my challenge and help the RFDS continue their life-saving work for rural and remote Australians.
So far this year
I’ve helped provide...
1
Laryngoscopes – used to assist in intubating and ventilating a patient.
1
Life-saving medical chests for a remote, rural or regional community.
1
Defibrillator Pads – used with a machine to monitor a patient’s cardiac health.
