Why I'm walking
I'm walking this October to save lives and help more Australians access essential healthcare.

I’m having another crack at the RFDS challenge this October.
Last year I did it after being hit by a car, with a smashed-up hip and probably more stubbornness than sense. A year on, I’m still old and broken 😂 and the hip still reminds me it’s there — but I can walk, so I’ll walk.
Living in the outback, I’ve seen just how important the RFDS is. Not only for the lifesaving emergency care they provide, but for the incredible work they do supporting mental health in rural and remote communities.
I’m not asking anyone for money. I’ll cover my challenge myself.
What I’d rather ask for is something that doesn’t cost a cent.
Take the time to talk.
Talk to your mates. Talk to your family. Talk to the people you love. Check in on the bloke who always says he’s right.
But more importantly — take the time to listen.
Sometimes you don’t need the right words. You don’t need to fix anything. You just need to be there and genuinely listen.
That’s what I’d like my walk to be about this year.
A few sore kilometres is nothing compared to what some people are quietly carrying every single day.
So if you want to support me, just check in on someone. ❤️
So far this year
I’ve helped provide...
1
Laryngoscopes – used to assist in intubating and ventilating a patient.
1
Life-saving medical chests for a remote, rural or regional community.
1
Defibrillator Pads – used with a machine to monitor a patient’s cardiac health.
