Why I'm walking
I'm walking this October to save lives and help more Australians access essential healthcare.
Donate now >>I'm fundraising for the Royal Flying Doctor Service
This October, I’m taking on a month-long fitness challenge to help more people access the care they need. By going further, I hope to raise as much as possible for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).
Why I’m taking part 💙✈️
The Royal Flying Doctor Service holds a very special place in my heart.
When I was pregnant with my twin girls, Anastasia and Elouise, I went into preterm labour at just 24 weeks pregnant. It was an incredibly frightening time, knowing my babies were far too little to safely arrive.
I needed to be transferred to receive the specialist care that my babies and I needed, and the Royal Flying Doctor Service transported me.
Thankfully, my girls didn’t arrive at 24 weeks, and today they are happy, energetic 6-year-olds, nearly 7. But I have never forgotten how important it was to have the Flying Doctor there when we needed them.
Living in regional Australia makes you realise just how vital services like the RFDS are. When something goes wrong, distance shouldn’t determine whether you can access lifesaving medical care.
So This one is for my girls, and for every family who may one day find themselves needing that plane.
So far this year
I’ve helped provide...
0
Laryngoscopes – used to assist in intubating and ventilating a patient.
0
Life-saving medical chests for a remote, rural or regional community.
0
Defibrillator Pads – used with a machine to monitor a patient’s cardiac health.
