Why I'm walking
I'm walking this October to save lives and help more Australians access essential healthcare.

In 1981, I remember taking a ride in a plane from Halls Creek, WA to Derby, WA. It was one of the earliest memories. I remember my mum on stretcher and how the adults were worried and the pilot was kind.
My mother had an emergency cesarean in Derby, and she and my brother are alive today because the Royal Flying Doctor plane was available and able to stop and pick us up!
This October, I’m taking on a month-long fitness challenge to raise money to help other Aussies access care when they need it.
I’ve recently had my own wake-up call with being at risk of osteoporosis — and exercise is a thing that helps keep it at bay.
So in an attempt to create a habit to keep me alive, and to support a charity that I hold dear that keeps others alive, I’ve signed up to oceans to outback.
Every year, the RFDS reach more than 330,000 Australians with 24-hour emergency retrieval and primary healthcare services. That’s one person every two minutes!
Together, we can keep the Flying Doctor flying and continue their life-saving work. Please donate to my challenge today!
So far this year
I’ve helped provide...
3
Laryngoscopes – used to assist in intubating and ventilating a patient.
2
Life-saving medical chests for a remote, rural or regional community.
2
Defibrillator Pads – used with a machine to monitor a patient’s cardiac health.
