Why I'm running

I’m Running for Taylor 💙
This is my 3rd year giving back to the RFDS.

In 2020, we were in Monkey Mia camping for a family getaway. Taylor was only four years old at the time.

We headed out on a sunset cruise on the Aristocat catamaran when, in a moment that changed everything, Taylor fell approximately 2 metres down a stairwell, landing on her neck. She was unconscious, and when we found her, we genuinely feared the worst.

The terrifying part was that we were around 10 hours from Perth. Thankfully, the incredible team at the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) came to our rescue and safely flew Taylor home to Perth Children’s Hospital.

Poor Grant and the girls were left behind to pack up our campsite and make the long drive home while I stayed with Taylor. It was an experience none of us will ever forget.

Taylor had fractured her skull and her T1 vertebrae. Thankfully, she didn’t require surgery, but she spent the next few weeks in a neck brace.

As a mum, this was without a doubt the most terrifying experience of my life. Watching your little girl go through something so serious, so far from home, is something I never want to experience again.

I will be forever grateful to the incredible people at the RFDS who were there for Taylor when we needed them most. ❤️

So now, I’m Running for Taylor — and for all the families who may one day need the RFDS just as much as we did.

I'm fundraising for the Royal Flying Doctor Service

Australia is a big country, and for those living in remote, rural and regional areas, access to immediate care isn’t a guarantee. For some communities, the nearest hospital is eight hours drive away.

This October, I’m taking on a month-long fitness challenge to help more people access the care they need. By going further, I hope to raise as much as possible for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).

Every year, the RFDS reach more than 330,000 Australians with 24-hour emergency retrieval and primary healthcare services. That’s one person every two minutes!

Together, we can keep the Flying Doctor flying and continue their life-saving work. Please donate to my challenge today!
