My Oceans to Outback Journey 💙
When I signed up for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) Oceans to Outback Challenge, I set myself two goals: to walk and frame run 42 km throughout October and raise $1,000 for this incredible organisation.
Living with an acquired brain injury and left-sided physical disability, movement isn't always easy. But I strongly believe in making the most of what I can do, rather than focusing on what I cannot.
I chose to support the RFDS because Australia is such a vast country, and access to healthcare should never depend on where someone lives. Having heard stories of people travelling hours just to receive medical treatment, I appreciate how vital this service is for rural and remote communities.
What started as a 42 km challenge has turned into something I never expected!
By 22 October, I had covered 89.8 km — more than TWO marathons! And thanks to the generosity of my wonderful supporters, I have raised $1,076.95, exceeding my original fundraising goal!
I never imagined I would cover this distance when I first signed up. I simply wanted to challenge myself while making a difference to others.
Every kilometre has been worthwhile, knowing that the funds raised will help the RFDS continue delivering essential healthcare to Australians who need it.
To everyone who has donated, supported, encouraged or accompanied me along the way, thank you from the bottom of my heart. ❤️
The challenge may have started with 42 km, but the journey has become so much more.
And with October not yet over, I'm still moving! 💙
Thank you for being part of my journey and supporting the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
