I'm fundraising for the Royal Flying Doctor Service

Australia is a big country, and for those living in remote, rural and regional areas, access to immediate care isn’t a guarantee. For some communities, the nearest hospital is eight hours drive away.

This October, I’m taking on a month-long fitness challenge to help more people access the care they need. By going further, I hope to raise as much as possible for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).

Every year, the RFDS reach more than 330,000 Australians with 24-hour emergency retrieval and primary healthcare services. That’s one person every two minutes!

Together, we can keep the Flying Doctor flying and continue their life-saving work. Please donate to my challenge today!

So far this year
I’ve helped provide...

Laryngoscopes image

106

Laryngoscopes – used to assist in intubating and ventilating a patient.

Life-saving medical chests image

66

Life-saving medical chests for a remote, rural or regional community.

Defibrillator Pads

My Updates

Yellagonga Regional park

Sunday 12th Oct
Lived in the northern suburbs for most of my life but have never done the trail around Lake Joondalup, this seemed like the perfect time do it.
Packed the dogs and the pram (for the dogs) and headed off.
Every kilometre we walked a 100m to allow the little fat dog to have a walk... then back into the pram for the remainder of the kilometre.
This worked well until the big fat dog wanted to keep running but needed a rest. Unfortunately he didn't like the pram.. oh well was worth a try.
After the wife collected the dogs and pram, I completed the other half of the run.
Awesome views around the lake and all of the baby ducks etc around the waters edge showing that spring has sprung.

Camping Run

Sunday 12th Oct
Not a great start to the month on the running side, with 4 days camping at Woormel Station.
But I did manage to fit in a quick 11k's around there riverside walk (2 laps). The station is also doing the challenge with people asked to donate for walking the track, to which I happily obliged.
Plenty to see on the trail with wildlife and station animals around. Bit disconcerting when the kites started circling... didnt think I was running that slow!!
Awesome camp site too.

1st run done

Thursday 2nd Oct
Alarm goes off, time to go... ok maybe 30 minutes more in bed.

Ok now its time to go, up, grab the dogs and we are off.
Slowest 2k of my life. 2 parks, 2 poops (not me) and then back home to drop the little fat dog off.
8k loop this time, down and around the coast, drop the other fat dog off.... he was getting slower...
Final 3k to hit the target of 13, and now the fat human can stop for coffee and breakfast :)
13 down 372 to go.
