I'm fundraising for the Royal Flying Doctor Service

Australia is a big country, and for those living in remote, rural and regional areas, access to immediate care isn’t a guarantee. For some communities, the nearest hospital is eight hours drive away.

This October, I’m taking on a month-long fitness challenge to help more people access the care they need. By going further, I hope to raise as much as possible for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).

Every year, the RFDS reach more than 330,000 Australians with 24-hour emergency retrieval and primary healthcare services. That’s one person every two minutes!

Together, we can keep the Flying Doctor flying and continue their life-saving work. Please donate to my challenge today!

So far this year

Upright exercise bike

Wednesday 30th Jul
Have started recording exercise details. To achieve my October 2025 RFDS Oceans to Outback goal I must do not less than 17 kms daily. For me, that is significant. My core goals are to meet the target I have committed to for the RFDS Challenge; to turn up every day; to improve (lower) my weight and further reduce the cms of my waist measurement. (Achieving these goals will make my Exercise Physiologist very happy!!) I turn 73 in August 2025. I do have a few health challenges, none insurmountable. I had a total knee replacement done a few years back. The other knee may need to be done in a year or so. I have significant arthritis in the toes of my left foot, especially the big toe. The sacro Iliac joint is not as helpful as it used be but I've learnt to manage those strains. I am a (very much) well controlled non-insulin dependent Type 2 diabetic.
