I'm fundraising for the Royal Flying Doctor Service

Australia is a big country, and for those living in remote, rural and regional areas, access to immediate care isn’t a guarantee. For some communities, the nearest hospital is eight hours drive away.

This October, I’m taking on a month-long fitness challenge to help more people access the care they need. By going further, I hope to raise as much as possible for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).

Every year, the RFDS reach more than 330,000 Australians with 24-hour emergency retrieval and primary healthcare services. That’s one person every two minutes!

Together, we can keep the Flying Doctor flying and continue their life-saving work. Please donate to my challenge today!

So far this year
I’ve helped provide...

Laryngoscopes image

46

Laryngoscopes – used to assist in intubating and ventilating a patient.

Life-saving medical chests image

29

Life-saving medical chests for a remote, rural or regional community.

Defibrillator Pads

26

Defibrillator Pads – used with a machine to monitor a patient’s cardiac health.

Thank you to my supporters

Good Luck with your 87km of walking Landon! Your fundraising efforts are going to such a good cause. The Royal Flying Doctor Service played a critical role in saving my grandfather's life by transporting him from Bairnsdale to Melbourne to get the best medical treatment possible. Without them he wouldn't have made it. Your contribution will make sure other lives will be saved into the future.

My Updates

Saturday 19th oct

Sunday 19th Oct
Well a very unexpected turn of events today. Had grand plans of making the most of the beautiful weather today and heading to a different walking track in our region. Haven't been to the rail trail at Timboon for a while and today it seemed like a great idea. Unfortunately we didn't quite make it there. Our planned walk along a beautiful tree lined track was swapped for loops around the block and a quick trek into the shopping centre waiting for the tow truck to arrive. Still managed to clock up some kms though.

Sunday 19th Oct
I'm a bit behind with my blogging. Couldnt resist a photo opportunity on my walk today. Happened to pass these guys working for National Patient Transport and told them about my fundraising effort for RFDS. We are so lucky in Australia with all the medical support we have access too.

Sunshine at last

Wednesday 15th Oct
The last few days of walking have been tough going. It's been wet. It's been windy. But I didn't want to let my sponsors down so I've powered through. So grateful to see some blue skies and sunshine today. Makes the walking a lot more enjoyable.

Day 4

Saturday 4th Oct
A short visit to Echuca provided opportunity to try out some different walking tracks and see different things. Today (and yesterday) I did a walk along the Campaspe River in Echuca. Such an amazing set up. Hope to be able to visit again one day.

Day 2

Thursday 2nd Oct
The weather here today is foul. But I can't let all my sponsors down. Must keep walking rain, hail or shine.

Gearing up!

Saturday 27th Sep
Hi everyone. just wanted to say a big thank you for your generosity in supporting the RFDS. The count down is on now and I'm looking forward to starting the walking part of this challenge ❤️🚶‍♂️😁
