85 KILOMETRES FOR THE ROYAL FLYING DOCTOR SERVICE ✈️
This October, to coincide with the release my new single “Sugar Bird Lady”, I’m taking on a personal challenge — walking 85 kilometres to raise money for the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
Why 85 kilometres? Because I wanted to do something that would take me out of my comfort zone 🏃♀️… something that would make me work for every kilometre, while helping support such a vital service which is the lifeline to people living and working across rural and remote Australia.
My song, Sugar Bird Lady, tells the story of Robin Miller — a remarkable Australian nurse and pilot who flew her little plane into some of the most isolated parts of our country, taking medical care and polio vaccines to Aboriginal and remote communities. She didn’t let the vast distances stop her. She went to where she was needed and that thought has stayed with me. I may not be flying a plane across the outback like Robin did, but this October I’ll be putting one foot in front of the other, thinking about the people who rely on the RFDS every single day. 85 kilometres might be a long way for me… but for someone living in remote Australia, distance can mean the difference between getting help and waiting for it.
✈️ So why not come along on my journey - every donation, no matter how big or small, will help the RFDS continue to bring care to the people who need it most.
