Why I'm walking
98km. One team. One important cause.
This October, I’m taking on the challenge of walking 98km from Oceans to Outback alongside fellow SES volunteers to raise much needed funds for the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
As an SES volunteer, I’ve seen firsthand how important it is to have people who will show up when others need help. Whether it’s responding to floods, supporting communities through disasters or simply being there when things go wrong, I’ve learned that connection, compassion and community can make an enormous difference.
The Royal Flying Doctor Service takes that same commitment to people across Australia, reaching those who live in rural and remote communities where access to essential healthcare can be challenging. Their work means that distance doesn’t have to determine whether someone gets the care they need.
Walking 98km will definitely push me physically and mentally, but knowing that every step is helping support a service that gives people access to life changing and lifesaving care makes it worth it.
I’m proud to be doing this alongside other SES volunteers and to once again be part of a team that is stepping up for our communities.
98km is a long way to walk, but it’s a small distance compared to the difference the RFDS makes every day.
If you’re able to donate, no matter how big or small, I’d be incredibly grateful. Every dollar helps keep the Flying Doctor flying. ❤️✈️
I'm fundraising for the Royal Flying Doctor Service
Australia is a big country, and for those living in remote, rural and regional areas, access to immediate care isn’t a guarantee. For some communities, the nearest hospital is eight hours drive away.
This October, I’m taking on a month-long fitness challenge to help more people access the care they need. By going further, I hope to raise as much as possible for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).
Every year, the RFDS reach more than 330,000 Australians with 24-hour emergency retrieval and primary healthcare services. That’s one person every two minutes!
Together, we can keep the Flying Doctor flying and continue their life-saving work. Please donate to my challenge today!
So far this year
I’ve helped provide...
6
Laryngoscopes – used to assist in intubating and ventilating a patient.
4
Life-saving medical chests for a remote, rural or regional community.
4
Defibrillator Pads – used with a machine to monitor a patient’s cardiac health.
