Back walking

So just a very slow stroll through the park with Albie, but I'm back walking after a spekkie fall on Monday.

Stay on your feet

Only managed a short walk this morning and then had 2 hours in a car, so decided to take my puppy for a walk this afternoon! Walking along nicely when my knee gave way and over I went, quite spectacularly according to the guy who raced over to help! skin off, blood!, bruises, scrapes, twisted wrist, banged up knee, bruised elbow and wrenched shoulder! nothing broken at least! so limped home and only managed 1km!

This morning was hard

I'm struggling with the fundraising. I don't find it easy to ask others for donations, so I just keep posting to my social networks and cross my fingers. Walked 8km with my walking buddy this morning.

Beautiful Kings Park in Perth

Didn't have a great productive day walking yesterday so decided that I would take my dog to Know Ng's Park for a bush walk after dropping my partner at hospital for some day surgery. Dropping him off set my mood quite low so I almost didn't go through with the walk, but I had promised my puppy and if you're a dog person, you know once you promise, you MUST keep your word. Anyway, a couple of hours later and 7.7km, I was glad that I kept my promise and we both enjoyed the walk. Bonus was seeing a pair of Rainbow Bee Eaters! My second sighting in a week, in 2 different areas. Wow!

Tired after a practice walk with mum

Mum took me today on her practice walk. I'm so tired now, curled up on the couch zzzzz

The beautiful wildflowers

Today's practice walk, short but rewarding. It took me an hour to walk 1.5km. So many beautiful wildflowers to photograph!

Wearing my new shirt to work

I work as a presenter for AWCHWA a school incursion program to build children's knowledge and comfort around having to go to hospital. It's a fantastic, not for profit, organisation and I am proud that every day I can share stories about the wonderful job our Royal Flying Doctor Services do for us.

I'm fundraising for the Royal Flying Doctor Service

In 2023 whilst teaching in the community at Warburton,  Western Australia,  I needed the services of the RFDS to transport me to hospital in Kalgoorlie,  the closest hospital.  Without the RFDS I would have died. I am forever in their debt. Australia is a big country, and for those living and working in remote, rural and regional areas, access to immediate care isn’t a guarantee. For some communities, the nearest hospital is eight hours drive away.

This October, I’m taking on a month-long fitness challenge to help more people access the care they need. By going further, I hope to raise as much as possible for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).

Every year, the RFDS reach more than 330,000 Australians with 24-hour emergency retrieval and primary healthcare services. That’s one person every two minutes!

Together, we can keep the Flying Doctor flying and continue their life-saving work. Please donate to my challenge today!

So far this year
