I'm fundraising for the Royal Flying Doctor Service

Australia is a big country, and for those living in remote, rural and regional areas, access to immediate care isn’t a guarantee. For some communities, the nearest hospital is eight hours drive away.

This October, I’m taking on a month-long fitness challenge to help more people access the care they need. By going further, I hope to raise as much as possible for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).

Every year, the RFDS reach more than 330,000 Australians with 24-hour emergency retrieval and primary healthcare services. That’s one person every two minutes!

Together, we can keep the Flying Doctor flying and continue their life-saving work. Please donate to my challenge today!

So far this year
I’ve helped provide...

My Updates

Oof

Tuesday 7th Oct
Second longer run done and the body is feeling it - tired. Could be from the long weekend of chasing the kids around and at the beach yesterday but the legs are just tight and sluggy. Still, we pushed on and just counted down the 5 minute intervals between walk breaks. I am still finishing with a faster walk as the knee is a little sore from lack of running but I did maintain the same pace for the most part. Okay, that’s all for now, here’s a picture for proof of progress. And I am still running towards that fundraising goal as well so please support if you can with a donation. Until next time!

Getting it done!

Friday 3rd Oct
A little late start but made it to the gym this morning for my first treadmill session of the challenge. I’m on a run/walk interval for now since I’m building back up my running capacity post kids. I felt pretty good, the Pump Up running mix on Spotify helped - my husband took a picture of me as evidence that I was well and truly pumped! It’s only the beginning and it’s all for the rural and remote communities that the RFDS serves - so it’s well worth the effort - please make a donation if you can!

Getting ready for the starting line

Monday 29th Sep
With October just around the corner I am excited for my very first Oceans to Outback challenge! This will be a month-long challenge to raise vital funds for the Royal Flying Doctor Service and I will need your help to reach my goal! Throughout October, I'll be running 87km and I have set a fundraising target of $870!

Considering my running mileage isn't what it used to be (these days I am more toddler chaser than running racer), but I'm determined to go further to ensure our rural communities get access to the finest healthcare.

Please support my challenge today by donating to my fundraising page - https://www.oceanstooutback.org.au/fundraisers/jennylewis65029

Together we can ensure more Aussies get access to the healthcare they deserve. Thank you so much and looking forward to this challenge!
