Why I'm riding

I'm riding this October to save lives and help more Australians access essential healthcare.

Donate now >>

I'm fundraising for the Royal Flying Doctor Service

Australia is a big country, and for those living in remote, rural and regional areas, access to immediate care isn’t a guarantee. For some communities, the nearest hospital is eight hours drive away.

This October, I’m taking on a month-long 100 kms fitness challenge to help more people access the care they need. I am not a big rider, and I ride at smiles per hour and not kms per hour. I will keep you updated through my Bosch cycle app on whatsapp.  I have targeted a modest appeal but hope to raise more through your generosity. By going further, I hope to raise as much as possible for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).

Every year, the RFDS reach more than 330,000 Australians with 24-hour emergency retrieval and primary healthcare services. That’s one person every two minutes!

Together, we can keep the Flying Doctor flying and continue their life-saving work. Please donate to my challenge today!

My Updates

Donor friend Narius Iranis experience with RFDS

Tuesday 6th Oct
"Between 2022 and 2024, I had the opportunity to work with CHC Helicopter, supporting its work with the WA Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES). One of the projects my team and I were involved in, was a potential partnership with the Royal Flying Doctor Service, which took us to the RFDS base in Adelaide.

I remember being genuinely impressed by what I saw. Australia is a huge and often unforgiving country, and getting medical help to people in remote areas is an incredibly complex operation. We toured the aircraft, saw the medical equipment and technology firsthand, and were briefed on systems such as LiDAR and night-vision technology used to locate and reach people in difficult environments.

What really struck me was everything that happens behind the scenes. Keeping aircraft and medical equipment at the highest standards, training and simulating crews, and constantly updating technology all takes significant investment. Seeing it firsthand gave me a real appreciation for what the RFDS does, and why keeping this service funded is so important.

So while Jehangir has already smashed his target, I’m very glad he’s keeping the kilometres coming. Every extra kilometre helps support a service that, quite literally, can be the difference between life and death for someone in remote Australia.

Impression of RFDS - A brief story from Donor friend Huti Hira of Sydney

Saturday 3rd Oct

When we were touring The Northern Territory, both Rumi and I were truly inspired by the remarkable work The Flying Doctors do.  We were touring their office and were informed by staff  that they bring vital medical care to people living in some of Australia’s most remote and isolated communities.  They cover vast distances by air, they provide emergency assistance, medical consultations, health checks and essential support to people who may otherwise be hundreds of kilometres from the nearest medical facility. Their dedication, courage and compassion make an enormous difference to countless lives, and their work is a wonderful example of the care and spirit that Australians can be so proud of.

Ride from Port Coogee to Rockingham

Saturday 3rd Oct
Wonderful spring day 21 degrees, sunny and perfect weather for riding to Rockingham and back

Update to my second RFDS bike 🚴‍♂️ ride today 3 Oct 2026.

Saturday 3rd Oct
Rockingham is only 25 kms from Port Coogee but I have been reluctant to ride there due to on road cycle lanes, narrow and non existent in places. But RFDS gave me the impetus to ride there. Not bad. Coffee in Rockingham and total riding time about 2 hours covering 51 kms. Thank you to my donors. I am updating my donor page regularly with stories from you. So please check the page. ❤️🙏🏼

Proud of my ride Today 1 Oct 2026

Thursday 1st Oct
Please see my Bosch app screen shot to view My Ride details. 60 kms today and counting, possibly surpass my 100kms goal.
RFDS is truly an extraordinary organization. For nearly a century, they have provided a vital lifeline to people living, working and traveling in rural and remote Australia.

My Very First RFDS Bike Ride

Thursday 1st Oct
I was pumped up and ready for my first RFDS Oceans to Outback bike ride. Covered 60 kms Port Coogee to Port Coogee of the river loop with coffee stop at Applecross and a pepper steak Pie at North Street Store in Cottesloe before returning home.
Thank you to my supporters and Donors.

RFDS Saved my donor friends Family 25 Years Ago

Wednesday 23rd Sep

Below story from my donor friend Sukhi Singh. RFDS saved his wife and the twins some 25 years ago. Thank you Sukhi for sharing.

"Minnie was expecting the twins when I was posted in Karratha. I was working on a ship at Woodside terminal when I got the message to rush to the Karratha hospital. The delivery was still 2 months to go. Anyways, Minnie got severe pains and she was rushed by her friend to the hospital at Karratha. I was notified by the terminal shift controller to drop everything and rush to the hospital. I reached the hospital, but they had already dispatched Minnie to Perth by RFDS as the doctors in Karratha were not able to handle her complex case. 😀Rest is history "
