Why I'm walking
This year I joined the Royal Flying Doctor Service as General Manager of Primary Health Care and Rural Generalism, and it has been a privilege to become part of such an iconic Australian organisation.
When most people think about the RFDS, they think about our emergency retrievals, rescue flights and life-saving aeromedical services. Those services are extraordinary and rightly receive a lot of recognition. What many people don't see is the incredible work that happens every day through our Primary Health Care services helping people manage chronic conditions, accessing essential healthcare, and receiving support close to home in rural and remote communities.
Through clinics, outreach services, health promotion, nursing and allied health programs, the RFDS is often the first point of care for people who would otherwise struggle to access healthcare. This preventative and ongoing care changes lives and helps keep people healthier, reducing the need for emergency interventions later on.
Since joining RFDS this year, I have seen firsthand the dedication of our teams and the impact they have on some of Australia's most isolated communities. I am incredibly proud to work alongside such passionate professionals and to contribute to an organisation that has been serving Australians for almost a century.
By participating in Oceans to Outback, I'm raising funds to support the RFDS so we can continue delivering both life-saving emergency services and the vital primary healthcare programs that keep rural and remote communities healthy and connected to care. Every donation will help ensure these services remain available to those who need them most.
Thank you for your support!
I'm fundraising for the Royal Flying Doctor Service
Australia is a big country, and for those living in remote, rural and regional areas, access to immediate care isn’t a guarantee. For some communities, the nearest hospital is eight hours drive away.
This October, I’m taking on a month-long fitness challenge to help more people access the care they need. By going further, I hope to raise as much as possible for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).
Every year, the RFDS reach more than 330,000 Australians with 24-hour emergency retrieval and primary healthcare services. That’s one person every two minutes!
Together, we can keep the Flying Doctor flying and continue their life-saving work. Please donate to my challenge today!
So far this year
I’ve helped provide...
8
Laryngoscopes – used to assist in intubating and ventilating a patient.
5
Life-saving medical chests for a remote, rural or regional community.
5
Defibrillator Pads – used with a machine to monitor a patient’s cardiac health.

Hey Greg! Just wanted to say how proud I am of you for being part of the movement to provide medical facilities to remote communities. It's inspiring to see you make such a difference! Keep it up! Cheers, Shaz
