I'm fundraising for the Royal Flying Doctor Service

Australia is a big country, and for those living in remote, rural and regional areas, access to immediate care isn’t a guarantee. For some communities, the nearest hospital is eight hours drive away.

This October, I’m taking on a month-long fitness challenge to help more people access the care they need. By going further, I hope to raise as much as possible for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).

Every year, the RFDS reach more than 330,000 Australians with 24-hour emergency retrieval and primary healthcare services. That’s one person every two minutes!

Together, we can keep the Flying Doctor flying and continue their life-saving work. Please donate to my challenge today!

So far this year
I’ve helped provide...

My Updates

Day 3

Friday 3rd Oct
I decided to go north today, to utilise a tailwind home. Set off along Patterson River to a shared path along Wells Road. I reached Mordialloc to ‘review’ the construction of new aquatics centre. Then on to ‘check’ the works at the level crossing removal project. Home along Station Street was a breeze, ‘at my back’!

Day 2

Friday 3rd Oct
Rain was threatening but I decided that the Flying Doctors would be on their way, so off I went. Along the Seaford wetlands again, then over to the Peninsula Link path south to the link path back to Frankston. Rough see along the pier. Then back to Carrum via the boardwalk, local streets and path alongside the railway. Fortunately no rain!

Start of the challenge

Wednesday 1st Oct
It’s a lovely morning here in Carrum looking out at Port Phillip Bay. The sky is overcast with a light wind from the north-west. Great for a ride. One aspect of this challenge is to ride 16.25 km per day for 31 days, so I’m planning to build on that in case there is a day when I can’t ride. I’m starting today on the great bike paths around Carrum. Will go to Seaford along the railway path, then back around the Seaford wetlands up to Chelsea and then back home along Patterson River. Great satisfaction having started on this worthwhile project, and seeing that I have exceeded my daily target. Thanks so much to my financial supporters. YOUR support is greatly appreciated and will help many people across this great country.
