Why I'm walking

I'm walking this October to save lives and help more Australians access essential healthcare.

Good Morning!!!! Day 3

Each morning in the outback I try to take 5 minutes on sunrise. I use this time as my gratitude ritual. What am I grateful for? I am grateful to be in good health. To be able to do the work I do. To be able to experience the most amazing sunrise and sunset moments in the country. I’m grateful for so many things - most of all I am grateful to be walking this earth with three beautiful (grown) children and three just as beautiful grandchildren. I am lucky. There is absolutely no filter on these photos. It’s not needed.

I'm fundraising for the Royal Flying Doctor Service

Australia is a big country, and for those living in remote, rural and regional areas, access to immediate care isn’t a guarantee. For some communities, the nearest hospital is eight hours drive away.

This October, I’m taking on a month-long fitness challenge to help more people access the care they need. By going further, I hope to raise as much as possible for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).

Every year, the RFDS reach more than 330,000 Australians with 24-hour emergency retrieval and primary healthcare services. That’s one person every two minutes!

Together, we can keep the Flying Doctor flying and continue their life-saving work. Please donate to my challenge today!

So far this year

First week of Oceans to Outback 2026

Tuesday 6th Oct
Well being in the outback definitely brings you back to your ground roots. RFDS is one of the very few saviours that could make it all the way out here. And they have. Not for me but for some people needing their expert care and transfer to hospital. It’s hot out here today 38 in the shade. Snakes are out. Dingoes are causing a bit of havoc and the ground is soaking up every single drop of water. We’ve had a few storms over the last few nights and it’s reminded me of some very beautiful memories of my time in the Kimberley region when Jake was little. There’s something about these harsh places that keep calling me back. Then there’s the call of the ocean… I’ll be heading home in a couple days and back to my ocean side dinners with family and friends. As much as I enjoy the outback- family always brings me back to the ocean. We are lucky today to have Kelsian Group donation matching. Any donations up to the value of $200 will be matched by Kelsian Group. For today only.

Here we go here we go here we go!

And it’s that time of year once again! It is year number 5 for me! This year I’m walking 98km to fundraise for the RFDS. That’s 1km for every year the service has been in operation. That’s 98 years of saving lives in regional and remote areas of Australia! Please donate to this amazing service. These people and this organisation have always been our go to when living in the country. Now still working remotely - occasionally we need to call them for a sick or injured patient to get them off site and to hospital. If you’ve ever needed the RFDS you’ll know that the service they provide is exceptional. Every amount helps small or large. Remember donations over $2 are tax deductible 😊.
