Why I'm running
I'm fundraising for the Royal Flying Doctor Service
One Monday morning I got a jumbled message from my Mum. It didn’t take long to work out something was very wrong.
The ambulance arrived in 15 minutes. She went on to spend a week in ICU before she was stable enough for an extended stay on the ward.
Without a doubt, the speed at which Mum was able to access high quality healthcare is the only reason she’s still here. I have spent the days since wondering how someone else’s Mum, a rural Mum, would access the same speed of care.
So here we are. By the end of October I will run 98km to raise money for the RFDS, for all the other loved ones that aren’t 15 minutes from help.
To spice it up, feel free to donate with a condition. “You can have $50, but you have to add 50 push ups”. “I’ve donated, but this month you have to do 20 squats a day”. Whatever makes you feel like I’ve earnt it *nervous laugh.
I’ll make a chart and keep tally, you’ll get a detailed report at the end.
Love x
Why is my goal $750?
When I registered, they gave you some ideas of what each dollar value would assist with. $750 was suggested if you wanted to fund services for the mental health support of those who work for the RFDS.So far this year
I’ve helped provide...
2
Laryngoscopes – used to assist in intubating and ventilating a patient.
1
Life-saving medical chests for a remote, rural or regional community.
1
Defibrillator Pads – used with a machine to monitor a patient’s cardiac health.
