Why I'm walking

After living remotely caretaking at Faraway Bay in the East Kimberley for 5 months in 2023, and again for 6 weeks in 2024 and knowing that the RFDS was only a call away should we need medical assistance certainly made us appreciative of this incredible service. Part of our job there was to keep the airstrip cleared for weekly mail plane, regularly checking the airstrip battery lights should the RFDS need to land day or night. Thankfully we remained healthy during our stay but knowing help was just a call away was very reassuring and for this reason I’m very keen to support this invaluable service…. and it’s just another walk 🤪

Walking in Bali

Over the last 5 days I’ve added another 28km to my total while walking in Bali. Hot & humid, it reminds me of my time in the east Kimberley although the lush landscape is certainly a contrast to the red cliff tops.

Day 2 - walking for RFDS

4km today to bring my total to 10km. Needed to go to my local shopping centre so instead of driving opted for walking instead. I’m travelling to Bali tomorrow but determined to log in a daily walk - we’ll see how that goes in the heat and humidity 😩

The day has arrived …

Day One: 6km walk along the canal to the weir - just a glorious day to begin my walk for the RFDS

I'm fundraising for the Royal Flying Doctor Service

Australia is a big country, and for those living in remote, rural and regional areas, access to immediate care isn’t a guarantee. For some communities, the nearest hospital is eight hours drive away.

This October, I’m taking on a month-long fitness challenge to help more people access the care they need. By going further, I hope to raise as much as possible for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).

Every year, the RFDS reach more than 330,000 Australians with 24-hour emergency retrieval and primary healthcare services. That’s one person every two minutes!

Together, we can keep the Flying Doctor flying and continue their life-saving work. Please donate to my challenge today!

So far this year
