This October, I’m walking 98 km for the Royal Flying Doctor Service — and this isn’t just a walk for me. It’s deeply personal. ❤️

The RFDS has been there for my family twice, but there is one journey I will never, ever forget.

When my beautiful little boy Lucas was just 20 days old, he became incredibly sick with RSV and bronchiolitis and needed high-flow oxygen. Living in Onslow, we needed medical care that simply wasn’t available where we were.

The RFDS flew us from Onslow to Port Hedland, where we spent 9 terrifying days while my tiny baby fought for his life.

I remember the fear. The uncertainty. Watching my newborn hooked up to oxygen and wondering what was going to happen next.

But we were where we needed to be.

And the RFDS was a huge part of getting us there.

You were part of the team that helped save my little boy’s life. 🩵

Thankfully, that wasn't our only experience with the RFDS. We were later flown from Onslow to Karratha when Lucas was having an asthma flare-up that needed medical care in Karratha.

Twice, when my family needed help, the RFDS was there.

When you live in a remote part of Australia, knowing that there is an organisation willing to fly into the middle of nowhere and get you or your loved ones to the care they need is something I will never take for granted.

There are so many families across Australia who have their own RFDS story. Some are having the worst day of their lives, just like we were, and the RFDS is there to help get them through it.

For my family, the RFDS isn't just an organisation. They are part of our story. They are part of Lucas's story. And they will always hold a very special place in my heart. 🥹🩵

So this October, I'm walking 98 km for the people who helped get my little boy where he needed to be when his little life depended on it.

Every kilometre I walk will be for Lucas.

For the families who need the RFDS today.

For the families who will need them tomorrow.

And for the incredible people who keep this lifeline in the sky flying. 🛩️💙
