Why I'm walking

I'm walking this October to save lives and help more Australians access essential healthcare.

Donate now >>

I'm fundraising for the Royal Flying Doctor Service

Australia is a big country, and for those living in remote, rural and regional areas, access to immediate care isn’t a guarantee. For some communities, the nearest hospital is eight hours drive away.

This October, I’m taking on a month-long fitness challenge to help more people access the care they need. By going further, I hope to raise as much as possible for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).

Every year, the RFDS reach more than 330,000 Australians with 24-hour emergency retrieval and primary healthcare services. That’s one person every two minutes!

Together, we can keep the Flying Doctor flying and continue their life-saving work. Please donate to my challenge today!

So far this year
I’ve helped provide...

Laryngoscopes image

Life-saving medical chests image

22

My Updates

Week Two Update: 33.1km down, 64.9km to go!🥾✈️

Sunday 11th Oct
Thank you so much to everyone who has donated so far! Your generosity is keeping me motivated as I tackle my 98km target.

This week for the Oceans to Outback challenge has been a massive test! After clocking up several kms across the stunning hills at Araluen and local tracks, my feet and legs have been very sore and I have had to learn to adapt.

Thanks to my wonderful husband for bringing me ice-packs while I rested! This weekend I managed a gentle stroll through the gorgeous annual Amanda's Garden Fete in Southern River, and today a beautiful flat loop along the boardwalk at Perry Lakes.

Pushing through to support the vital life-saving work of the Royal Flying Doctor Service, only 64.9 kms to go. Thank you so much for your support.

80% Funded & A Huge Weekend from the Zoo to the Ocean 🦒🌊

Monday 5th Oct
Thanks to your incredible generosity we have raised $1,204.65, which is 80% of my goal of $1,500. Knowing I have your backing makes every step worth it.

To log some extra kilometres for the Royal Flying Doctor Service this weekend:
On Saturday afternoon/night, I went to the Perth Zoo and tracked some kilometres with the animals, and then some evening steps under the spectacular glowing lantern sculptures.

This afternoon, I backed it up with a beautiful, breezy recovery walk along the Coogee Maritime Trail to take in the sunset and view the historic Omeo shipwreck. I also saw a wedding proposal picnic set up next to this landmark, hopefully it all went smoothly!💍❤️🥂

🏆Weekend Progress Update: 10.4 kms! 🥾✨
Total kilometre progress update (as of day four): 18.6 of 98 kms.

Every step helps the RFDS to provide life-saving healthcare to regional and remote communities across Australia.

I have uploaded a few of my favourite photos from the weekend into the gallery. We have just under $300 to go to smash our ultimate target.

With deep gratitude,
Cassie

DAY ONE: AND WE ARE OFF! 🥾✈️

Thursday 1st Oct
Thanks to your incredible support, we hit an amazing fundraising milestone on Tuesday night!🙌 Today is Day One of putting actual kilometres on the board for the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
I am aiming to walk 22 to 25 kms this week!.
Thanks again for your support!

We hit $1,000 🎉 (And a new goal is set!)

Wednesday 30th Sep
Thank you so much to everyone who has supported me.

We have hit this milestone before the 98 km Oceans to Outback challenge even begins this Thursday 1 October.

Since my original goals (we started at $500) have been smashed, I have set a new goal of $1,500 for the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

A very special thank you to my husband for chipping in the final dollars to get us across the line today ❤️

What's next?
This Thursday, my training kilometres reset to zero, and I will start logging my official 98 km trek. I will post regular updates of my progress.

Looking forward to Thursday, and providing the next update.

Goal Smashed and Target Raised!

Monday 14th Sep
Thanks to your incredible generosity, we have already raised $536 and smashed my $500 target before October has even begun!

Because of this amazing start I have increased my fundraising goal to $1,000!

Thanks to everyone for your support.

Training views from the trail!

Saturday 12th Sep
Taking a moment to enjoy these stunning wildflowers while getting my training kilometres in for the Oceans to Outback Challenge!

Thank you to everyone for cheering me on!

Goal Update: Stepping it up to 98km!

Thursday 10th Sep
I am excited to take on the Oceans to Outback challenge.

I originally set out to walk 87 kms this October.  However, after seeing the news this week about the severe transfer delays and immense pressure facing regional WA healthcare, I would like to do more.

I have increased my goal to 98 kms to represent every year the RFDS has been saving lives. It is going to take extra effort from me, but I want to help make a difference to remote communities who rely on this care.

If you are able to help chip in a few dollars it would mean the world to me.
