Why I'm riding
I'm riding this October to save lives and help more Australians access essential healthcare.

I’ve always felt most at home in the country, out in the bush, at the beach, and with no phone reception, and I think I’ve known for a long time that it’s where I want to end up as a doctor too.
Growing up rurally, and now studying medicine, I’ve seen healthcare from a few different sides. I know how much it matters to have someone show up for you when things are hard, and I know that for people living rurally and remotely, getting that help isn’t always as simple as driving down the road to a hospital.
The further I get through medicine, the more certain I am that I want to spend my career working in rural and remote communities. As medical student, I really hope to make healthcare feel a little more accessible, safe and human.
That’s why I chose to raise money for the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
The RFDS goes to people who might otherwise be hours and hours away from the care they need. Visiting remote Western Australia, and currently living out of a major city, the importance of access to care can mean life and death for those who need it. There’s something pretty incredible about knowing that when someone is having one of the worst days of their life, there are people willing to travel hundreds of kilometres to reach them.
So I’m getting on my bike and taking on Oceans to Outback. Partly because I love a challenge (and apparently enjoy giving myself unnecessarily large ones riding 247kms this month), but mostly because this one means something to me.
I’m still an over an year away from being able to contribute as a doctor, but I can contribute now.
I’d really love your support in making this come to life. Aldo Sharing this page means just as much.
Hopefully one day I’ll live out my dream of travelling Australia, and giving back to the communities that supported me. 💛🌊🌅
