We are family

Family comes in many shapes and forms.
Out here we have our Balla family which helps us being away from our real family.
It is not always easy but the love and support given to us from your family from the other side of the country is what we celebrate today.
Raewyn our manager for over 8 years has received loving donations from her granddaughter Chloe, her daughter Jody and her sister Lois. And today her son Shane joined our team.. 
This RFDS legend has been a part of many rescues out here in this remote area, often going above and beyond.  We applaud and are grateful for the support from your family which shows from even so far away how proud they are for the work you do out here.
In the words of sister sledge 
"Have faith in you and the things you do, you won't go wrong. This is our family jewel" ❤️ 💎 ❤️ We are family. And now we truly are part of the RFDS family too.

Mad dogs and Englishmen

This expression springs to mind when I think of Henry Roberts that recently donated to our fundraising efforts.
Earlier this year Henry made the trek from the UK to spend several weeks at Balladonia. As surprising as that is this young man was on a mission to set a world record by becoming the first human to run 1000 km in a straight line. He achieved this by running the 90 mile straight (146 km) a total of 7 times. Which was like running 24 marathons in 22 days sustained by his favourite outback burger.
While our 87 km goal is a walk in the park for this young man he is supporting us in our goal and is now part of our Balla history.
I would walk 500 miles and I would walk 500 more ....... Bugger that Henry 


Still keeping us on target

Thanks Deidre whom over many years had kept us balanced and supported to reach out targets in the workplace.

In like Flynn

You may think this update is referring to the founder of the RFDS John Flynn that started this amazing organisation back in 1928 and is celebrated on our $20 note.
But you would be wrong.
You may think it is a expression of thanks to our supporters that have been quick to donate.
This one while some what correct is not the whole answer.
It is a massive thank you to  our friend and Norseman BP comrade that today donated to us $100.
For a Scotsman to part with 5 lobsters you know what such a great cause this is.

Training has commenced

The Balladonia Airstrip which has been used for RFDS rescues is approximately 3kms long. 
There is no better place to start our training with a couple of our doggies and walking companions.

We're fundraising for the Royal Flying Doctor Service

Australia is a big country, and for those living in remote, rural and regional areas, access to immediate care isn’t a guarantee. For some communities, the nearest hospital is eight hours drive away.

This October, we're taking on a month-long fitness challenge to help more people access the care they need. By going further, we hope to raise as much as possible for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).

Every year, the RFDS reach more than 330,000 Australians with 24-hour emergency retrieval and primary healthcare services. That’s one person every two minutes!

Together, we can keep the Flying Doctor flying and continue their life-saving work. Please donate to our challenge today!
