I'm fundraising for the Royal Flying Doctor Service

Australia is a big country, and for those living in remote, rural and regional areas, access to immediate care isn’t a guarantee. For some communities, the nearest hospital is eight hours drive away.

This September, October and November, I’m taking on a multimonth-long fitness challenge to help more people access the care they need. By going further, I hope to raise as much as possible for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).

Every year, the RFDS reach more than 330,000 Australians with 24-hour emergency retrieval and primary healthcare services. That’s one person every two minutes!

Together, we can keep the Flying Doctor flying and continue their life-saving work. Please donate to my challenge today!

So far this year

My Updates

Cycling Along the Danube River Prepping for O2O

Thursday 24th Jul

I’m currently rolling my way through Europe on my handcycle and I’ve just ticked over 1065 kilometers from Germany to Slovakia. 😎 In training for a little ride later this year… 3000km for the Oceans to the Outback Challenge.

This ride so far has been incredibly challenging. Here's some moments:

  • Steep Hills - One was 20% 🌅

  • Burnt Out E-Bike Wiring a 3 hour fix on the side of the bike path in the middle of nowhere

  • Dead E-Bike Controller. The old one was full of water!

  • Freezing Cold Nights. 2 of them were 2C!

  • Endless Rain 4-5 days a week instead of 1-3 (normal)

  • A Week Being Sick First week of trip was spent in bed

  • Wheelchair Tube Disintegrated. Had to overnight a replacement

  • Ulcerated Ankle Wound. Healing soooo slowly.

But it's not all bad. This ride is beautiful and the towns, river and mountains are beautiful. The people I have met have also been great.

So, I’ve been testing gear, pushing limits, and prepping for the big one — my 2025 Oceans to Outback Challenge: a solo 3000km handcycle ride across Western Australia to raise funds for the Royal Flying Doctor Service. 🩺✈️

This European ride is like the warm-up lap, but it’s already given me:

  • More confidence in my kit

  • Surprises in the weather

  • Some wild detours thanks to Roadworks and Google Maps

  • And legs that are ready for more (okay… arms, but you get it)

🧭 What’s Next?

I’m still rolling east, chasing stories, sun, and the open road. Next stop is Budapest around 250km further.
