Why I'm walking

I've always said that when I give something new a go, I do it 3 times. It seemed to work well for many in the Bible. And so far, it has served me well too. And so, here I am, doing Oceans to Outback for the 3rd time.

Since I began this fundraising journey, I've walked over 200kms and raised over $2,000. And this year that classes me part of the "Legends Club". But I'm not the legend, they are.

Supporting regional and remote communities with vital healthcare resources. Flying to those in need at whatever time of day, responding so capably to whatever situation they find themselves at. And supporting those of us in the city in various ways, like at events like City-Bay, to ensure we are all safe and well.

Earlier this year, I had the privilege of hearing Gail and Mac Shan in Sydney. Their story of survival in the outback, and the role that the RFDS played in keeping her alive, still impacts me today. To survive the horrific injuries she did is only thanks to the careful and skilled care of the RFDS medics down the phone line that day. To me, they are the legends. The ones who kept her alive. And the countless others since that day in 2003.

So this year, I'm walking for the legends in the air and on the ground who keep ensuring every Australian has access to health care, no matter how remote.

Please join with me in helping me keep the flying doctor flying. And the legacy of Rev John Flynn legendary. Your $20 (The note that bears the image of this icon) is all that's needed to keep them in the air!

PS. It continues to be another logie-winning medical drama

PPS A tour of their base at the airport is pretty cool too!
