I'm fundraising for the Royal Flying Doctor Service

Australia is a big country, and for those living in remote, rural and regional areas, access to immediate care isn’t a guarantee. For some communities, the nearest hospital is eight hours drive away.

This October, I’m taking on a month-long fitness challenge to help more people access the care they need. By going further, I hope to raise as much as possible for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).

Every year, the RFDS reach more than 330,000 Australians with 24-hour emergency retrieval and primary healthcare services. That’s one person every two minutes!

I’m choosing to participate in this challenge as I was once saved by LifeFlight. A rescue helicopter in from the Sunshine Coast. I was stranded at the fairy rock pools in Noosa with multiple broken ribs and a collapsed lung. I had 50% chance of survival & I was lucky I survived. The place where I was located, the ambulance wasn’t able to reach me, and only by air could I be rescued. 

Supporting Royal Flying Doctor is also a rescue team, saving lives of many. With your help, people can have a chance to live on. 

In the past year I have been diagnosed with CFS/ ME. It’s a consistent struggle to meet each day with movement therefore I am only opting to walk low kilometres in 31 days to ensure a greater chance of success.
