From Recovery to Giving Back: Laura's Army's Fourth Year for the RFDS
In country Australia, help can be hundreds of kilometres away. When the unimaginable happens, the Royal Flying Doctor Service is often the difference between tragedy and a second chance. For Laura McKenney and her family, that wasn't someone else's story, it was theirs. Following a life-threatening accident in 2023, Laura was flown to hospital by the RFDS, beginning a recovery journey that once seemed impossible.
What started as a way to give back has become something much bigger. This October marks Laura's Army's fourth year taking part in the RFDS Oceans to Outback challenge, bringing together friends, families, farmers, businesses and supporters from across our community behind a cause that touches so many rural Australians.
Throughout October, our team will walk, run and ride in support of the Flying Doctor. Every kilometre logged and every dollar raised helps the RFDS continue providing life-saving aeromedical retrievals, patient transfers and essential healthcare services to people living and working in regional and remote Australia.
This isn't just about fundraising. It's about giving back to a service that never hesitates to answer the call, no matter how far away. It's about ensuring that country families can continue to rely on the same care, expertise and rapid response that helped save Laura's life.
Whether you choose to make a donation, join Laura's Army, support our fundraising events, or simply cheer us on from the sidelines, you're helping make a real difference.
Together, we're helping keep the Flying Doctor flying for the people who need it most.
