In the vast and often unforgiving landscapes of rural and remote Australia, the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) stands as an indispensable lifeline, bridging the critical gap between isolated communities and life-saving medical care. Local, smaller hospitals, while providing essential initial support, frequently lack the specialised equipment, advanced diagnostic capabilities, or expert medical staff required for complex conditions, serious injuries, or ongoing treatment. It is precisely in these moments that the RFDS becomes paramount, swiftly airlifting patients to larger metropolitan hospitals where they can access the comprehensive treatments, critical interventions, and specialist consultations they desperately need. Recognising the profound and vital impact they have on countless lives across the country, I am incredibly excited and profoundly motivated to participate in the annual challenge supporting the RFDS again this year, contributing to the continued operation of this essential and heroic service.We're fundraising for the Royal Flying Doctor Service
Australia is a big country, and for those living in remote, rural and regional areas, access to immediate care isn’t a guarantee. For some communities, the nearest hospital is eight hours drive away.
This October, we're taking on a month-long fitness challenge to help more people access the care they need. By going further, we hope to raise as much as possible for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).
Every year, the RFDS reach more than 330,000 Australians with 24-hour emergency retrieval and primary healthcare services. That’s one person every two minutes!
