I'm fundraising for the Royal Flying Doctor Service

Australia is a big country, and for those living in remote, rural and regional areas, access to immediate care isn’t a guarantee. For some communities, the nearest hospital is eight hours drive away.

This October, I’m taking on a month-long fitness challenge to help more people access the care they need. By going further, I hope to raise as much as possible for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).

Every year, the RFDS reach more than 330,000 Australians with 24-hour emergency retrieval and primary healthcare services. That’s one person every two minutes!

Together, we can keep the Flying Doctor flying and continue their life-saving work. Please donate to my challenge today!

So far this year

My Updates

Days 1 -5 Taromeo/Nanango/Linville/Taromeo/Toowoomba

Sunday 5th Oct
We’ve been given the opportunity for a Farm Stay while our friends take off for a while. I’ve taken this as a perfect start to the RFDS 87km Challenge and I calling on any friends and supporters who wish to donate, back me to nail this!! Day 1 (October 1) saw me clock in 5.6km on the property, over my daily target of 3km to stay on track across the month!

Day 2 was a day out in Nanango, getting to know the locals and sharing a meal at one of the local pubs, lovely people. Day 3 was the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail from Linville (part one), an easy trail walk, but the surrounds were beautiful and the heat adding to the challenge. We chose to do half the walk (3km marker), planning to come back and start from the Moore end to make up the full distance (7km). Day 4 was back on the job on the property, plenty of chores to do each day, keeping up the water to the variety of gardens and individual plants and trees. Day 5 was a rest day (still snuck in a couple of ks), dropping in to our church away from home - Hume Ridge Church of Christ, Toowoomba, and an opportunity to stop in on the way back at one of our favourite meal stops, Wild Honey Café, Cabarlah, for lunch.
